New Life Retreat takes medical care seriously and provides a high level of medical care to our clients.   In addition to a Medical Director, we employ professional nursing and support staff to assist all clients with their medical needs throughout the course of the program.  With a Medical staff consisting of a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Emergency Medical Technicians, a very high level of care is provided to our clients, which is unmatched in most programs.

The Medical Director, Dr. Rohit Adi, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.  As an Emergency Room Physician for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, he has seen first-hand the devastating effects of substance abuse.  “I have seen addicts abuse every drug on the market and one of the biggest things they fear in tackling their substance abuse is their anxiety about withdrawal symptoms.  My ultimate goal then is a pain free withdrawal and with our program, not only is this possible but it happens every day.”  This kind of commitment means Dr. Adi is on site daily to assist in each client’s progress by addressing not only their withdrawal symptoms but their overall health.

Along with our commitment to quality medical care our clinical counseling staff are certified drug addiction counselors supervised by master level clinical supervisors.  This level of certification is uncommon in most drug rehabs and is part of our desire to provide one of the best drug rehab program in the country.

Social Detox (Acute )  Level of Care

New Life Retreat provides clinically managed residential detoxification services, a level of care appropriate for individuals with a desire to quit drugs and alcohol but who have failed in their attempts to stop on their own.  By using social support during the detoxification period, many people are able to successfully cease using drugs without the need for full inpatient hospitalization services.

This non-medical approach to detoxification is accomplished with 24 hour supervision, interaction with others in a group setting, nutritional supplements and therapeutic exercises designed to ease the discomfort of withdrawal.

Post-Acute Withdrawal Support

Some Studies Suggest Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome is present in over 75% of people who stop taking drugs or alcohol.  These symptoms range from physical fatigue to emotional instability.  Some studies have suggested that relapse in early recovery is often the result of Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome.

New Life Retreat uses a unique Sauna Detoxification Program (Post-Acute) to help ease these symptoms and prevent relapse.  The program is designed to remove toxins from the body through the use of vitamins, exercise and low heat sauna.  This Sauna Detoxification program is exclusive our progran and has proven successful in reducing cravings and other protracted withdrawal symptoms.  Many participants report complete remission of post-acute withdrawal symptoms after completing the Sauna Detoxification Program.

This phase of recovery is often overlooked by other programs.  Recently SAMSHA issues a Substance Abuse Treatment Advisory to treatment professionals calling their attention to the problem.
