My Personal Storm

The seas are rough, the sky is grey with gale force winds blowing. You’re all alone in the middle of a liquid hell. Being a commercial fisherman 30+ year’s in Alaska, I lived that life.  But the turbulent waters of the Bering Sea were no match for the destruction I caused as an alcoholic.  Add drugs to the equation and the perfect storm is created.

6 months at sea and 6 months on land created a lifestyle that fed my addiction.  I destroyed friends, family, savings, jobs and my health, wiping out everything with the force of a Category 5 Hurricane.

At 55 years of age, the storm started to weaken, slowly dying off, with nothing but the aftermaths of destruction. 6 previous treatments programs never changed my course.  Adrift, broken and washed up on the rocks, the Narconon program pulled me from the waters of sure death. They helped me to rebuild my life.

Stem to stern, I was new again.  I got new life skills to navigate through and around life’s shallow reefs. Re-launching as a Narconon graduate, true north, the Captain of a healthy, honest, productive life.  Calm seas and clear skies, with all my family and new friends onboard, I’m now sailing into the sunset.
