Individual Counseling

At new life retreat, individual counseling takes priority over group sessions and other similar therapies offered at other programs.  This is because the underlying issues faced by each person are different and need to be addressed in the most intensive manner possible.  The staff to client ratio allows for the individual attention necessary to ensure a successful recovery for each person.

Handling The Underlying Causes Of Drug Addiction

In order to handle the underlying causes of addiction our counselors work with the individual and their families to develop a full life story.  From this life story our counselors identify the root cause of the problems that the person has been facing.  

All of us have things in our lives we wish we could have done differently or places where we seem to have gone off the road.  We each carry these regrets around with us and they effect us in our everyday lives.  It is these past bad experiences which drive some to use drugs and alcohol.  By identifying what happened with these experiences and finding a way to resolve them, the reasons for drug and alcohol use are handled so they no longer effect the person.

This intensive one on one counseling is what makes New Life Retreat unique.  Other programs try to help a person try and process the emotions of the problem with a group.  The person is required to share their most painful experiences and memories with strangers in an attempt to find some sort of resolution.  By handling these problems one on one, the addiction is addressed privately and without embarrassment.

The focus on personal responsibility our program provides does not require meeting attendance after completion of the program.  Addiction is not handled by a higher power and we do not consider the addict powerless.  This results focused approach is what gives our program a success rate far higher then programs which believe that addiction is a disease from which one can never recover.
